Supporting Cambridge Children’s Hospital

At Express Medicals, we’re proud to continue supporting the development of the Cambridge Children’s Hospital (CCH). CCH is an innovative and ground-breaking project that will transform care for children and young people across the East of England and beyond. 

This year, we were honoured to be awarded Silver Membership in the 1766 Circle by Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT), recognising our continued support for the project. It’s a privilege to stand behind such an essential service for children and families, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping this vision become reality. 

Why a dedicated children’s hospital is needed

The East of England is currently the only region in the UK without a dedicated children’s hospital. As the world’s first fully integrated hospital for children, CCH will change that it, will unite mental and physical healthcare under one roof supported by world-leading life sciences research. Staff will care for the whole child including their health and wellbeing, educational needs, and family support – tackling stigma, speeding up diagnoses, and offering the very best treatment in one place. 

A landmark project at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus

The hospital will be a five-storey, 35,000m² building at the heart of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the largest campus of its kind in Europe. It will bring together expertise from Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), working alongside pioneering research from the University of Cambridge. Construction partner Bouygues UK has now been appointed to bring this vision to life. 

Serving 1.5 million children across the region, the hospital will also harness telehealth technology to support young people at home and in schools, admitting only those in critical need. This whole-child approach will be a world first – and one that families in our communities urgently need.
